AFSD has embarked on an ambitious programme that will see its Team address the challenges of climate change, mainstreaming gender, food security, energy generation, conservation of our natural resources and local economic development of the surrounding communities. AFSD will be using its farm in the Magaliesburg to pilot and then scale projects that will contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals, also guided by the NDP to create jobs and develop the skills of the surrounding communities.

Drought leads to innovation
With the current drought, innovation - technology - systems and good common sense will have to be the order of the day. We are pilot this herb garden using high quality soils, gutters to contain the growth medium and also to be able to recirculate the very scarce water resource. AFSD and SolarWorks partnered to bring solar training to Dayspring Children's Village in Maanhaarrand. The prize giving was an amazing success. Several home systems were also installed in the surrounding community to bring some respite to the high costs of lighting. See more...
